The question is can we really be 100% American? Literally we can't be, why? Because the United States is made up of so many different races and cultures.
In the reading  "THE 100% AMERICAN" it tells about a basic day of a man. But also it describes that all of things he uses came from a different country.
So how can we be "100% American" when our world consists of things from other countries? America may be made up of a lot of countries but we have kind of made our own culture out of it. Also in the United States there are many different races. How can we have our own culture when there are so many? American culture is all of those put together to make a very unique culture.
When you put all of the "Elements of a Common American Culture" together that makes up what the American culture is. Individualism, Capitalism, Modernism, Religiosity, Secularism, Consumerism, and  Monoligualism are the elements that make up the culture.
Is America Multiculturalism or a Common Culture? I think Multiculturalism would be the correct answer but like I said before we make it into our own specific unique culture. No other country in the world has a culture like the United States. More and more people keep coming to the United States and the diversity is getting larger too.
So I think that we are a Multiculturalism country but we put it all together to make our own unique culture with a lot of diversity. We are 100% American but not everyone here is actually American.
